Time Waits for No Man...

It's been almost a year since I last blogged... and I guess the the past 10 months could possibly be the most dramatic period of my life.

Been through quite a lot.. Been to places I have never thought of going.. Done things I have never thought of doing.. Experienced what I thought only exist in dreams.. Went through episodes that I thought can only exist in dramas. It’s one hell of a journey, and like what one of my closest buddies always reiterate, it’s part of the journey in our lives where there’ll be no turning back.

And with the passing of the 5 spirited youths that took pride in bearing our national emblem, their sudden departure really brought home the point that time waits for no man, and made me take a second look at what I have accomplished in life thus far.

The articles, reports, friendster comments and blogs were all veiled in the same tinge of sadness, at the loss of individuals who proved to be a source of great inspiration to many others, despite the fact that they are all around my age, with a few even notably younger. The talents they displayed, the personal accomplishments they made, the great friendship they forged and the many lives they touched all left an ever-lasting impression in those around them, though they may physically be gone.

It left me thinking, of the many things in life I have yet to see, yet to try, yet to do, yet to accomplish. And how though some of them may be younger then me, they have already accomplished so much in life and left such a legacy in the many lives they have touched with theirs.

It is as if I have lived my 24 years of life pretty much in vain and accomplished little of what one is truly capable of. It’s time I set out to do the things in life that one day, when my time has come, will leave many others inspired; and time for me to touch lives like the way Reuben and his friends did.

May their spirits rest in peace that they truly deserve… for they have worked hard in their lives.

Time for me to embark on my own race…

Think before u act

Heard from friends of a case of happy-slapping taking place right here in the heartlands of Singapore.. Saw the video too on a hp, which was expectedly being circulated around like wild fire via Bluetooth, msn etc.

I found the video extremely disturbing, as such an act of gross outrage of modesty and lack of respect to another fellow human being can actually be portrayed to be a fun and enjoyable activity to the perpetrators in the video. To the girls in the video carrying out the deed, I hope that you will get your retribution soon, since what goes around comes around. If building your perverse joy on the pain of others gives you great satisfaction, I just feel that you girls are really sick. And Im very sure many others share my sentiments. Most that I saw the clip with commented on perverse nature of the incident, and expressed their hopes that the perpetrators get their rightful punishment in the eyes of the law for their intolerable behavior.

But I do have another point to make.

While the general public should voice out their views and concern regarding the issue, I do think the passing on of the video should be kept to the minimum. If the girls involved, after being influenced by media from the west (happy-slapping originates from the west), find it fun and hip to produce such a clip; surely the passing on of the clip will seem to them like a morale booster. Itll give them the wrong message that people actually want to see such videos, hence the spreading of the clip at such a alarming rate. This may even spur them on to produce more of such videos!

When there is no demand, there will not be a supply. So by asking your friends to send you that very clip, you are in a way encouraging the perpetrators in their perverse criminal act, no?

Food for thought.

mundane : muttering

Today is the 6th June 2006.. which is 6/6/06. Sounds kinda Satanic.

Anyway, I think Im really gonna enjoy my school life! Everyone in class seems fairly friendly and helpful so far, which is really great.

Was shown a couple of great 3D animation clips and this one stuck with me.

I guess the dark humor is amazingly effective in exploring the issues of conditioned conformity to accepted social norm.. which is something me and Jinsen discussed in the development of the script for my intended final year project (FYP) for audio-visual production (AVP).

Like it guys? Do drop a few comments in my tagboard leh.. its kinda unused. Ha~ =P

That Leap of Faith

Life hasnt been too kind to me lately.

With the coming of the 23rd year of my miserable existence here in this world, things around me take on devastating changes

I guess the immense fear for the unknown that dwells deep within each and every one of us reaches its peak whenever were thrown right smack in the middle of the many crossroads of our lives. Right now, it is where I am. Right in the middle of the most complicated crossroad ever.

Uncertainty looms over numerous aspects of my life.

Im lost and overwhelmed, not knowing where each step will lead me.

But thats just life.

Sure, I am at one of the lowest points in my life. But I will survive somehow.

I mean, thats how its always been for the last 23 years at least.

A much treasured friend of almost a decade, (I sure am making her sound old) told me that when one is at the lowest point in his life, the only way out is up.

I like that, really.

So I shall wait in anticipation.. to take that leap of faith.

On a lighter note, there are a few interesting people that have walked into my life, lowest point or not. They gave me something to keep my mind off things which is refreshing for a change.
